Student English Proficiency Improvement Scholarship

Application Eligibility:

  1. This scholarship is only open to undergraduate students of TCU.
  2. Foreign students may apply, but the official language of the country to which they belong cannot contain EnglishPlease refer to this list.
  3. When applying for the scholarship or obtaining scores, one must have the status of a current student at TCU.

How to Apply for It?

Take an official English proficiency test, and get a grade which has a higher "level" than the grade of your entry exam on English. (Level Reference)

How is the Scholarship Calculated?

  • Improving from A1 to A2, or from A2 to B1

   A scholarship of 1,500 dollars

  • Improving from B1 to B2, or from B2 to C1

   A scholarship of 2,500 dollars

  • Bonus: Make an improvement in a year

   An extra scholarship of 1,000
   dollars

Do Notice…

  1. Please finish the application in 30 days after getting the test grade report or certification
  2. The "in a year" mentioned above indicates from August 1st of the current year to July 31th of the following year
  3. If one doesn't have the grade from the entry exam on English, one should take the on-campus English language exam. The result of the exam will be the standard for recognizing this scholarship.
  4. If the English proficiency test has different categories, such as Listening & Reading and Speaking & Writing, and the grade is given separately. Then the different categories can be applied separately. For instance, TOEIC Listening & Reading and TOEIC Speaking & Writing can be applied separately.
  5. Please have your certificate or exam grade report and go to Foreign Language Education Center for verification.

How to Apply for It?

⭐Please finish the application before the second semester of
your junior year⭐

After meeting the foreign language credit requirement for graduation, taking extra English courses for 8 credits. All the English courses taken have to reach a grade of 70 in order to apply for this scholarship.

How is the Scholarship Calculated?

  • After verifying

   A scholarship of 2,000 dollars

Do Notice…
  1. One may only apply for this scholarship once.
  2. Do notice! Since this scholarship started from first semester of 112 academic year, the "English courses" mentioned above include ONLY courses after 112 academic year.
  3. The "English courses" mentioned above indicate courses that are offered or admitted by Foreign Language Education Center. (See the Admitted Courses)

How to Apply for It?

Utilizing the English learning resources from Foreign Language Education Center and gaining the points. Once you have certain points, you may apply for the scholarship.

How is the Scholarship Calculated?

   With 10 points, you can apply for    a scholarship of 1,000 dollars

   With 20 points, you can apply for
   a scholarship of 2,000 dollars

   And so on. But with a limit of 40
   points.

Ways to Get the Points

  • Signing up and attending a Lecture/Speech held by Foreign Language Education Center and filling out the feedback form.
   1 point at a time.
  • Using the Easytest platform authorized to TCU, and taking an online English proficiency mock test or courses. After that, finish a learning note and ask a professor from Foreign Language Education Center to check and sign for you. Finally, hand in the note to our center.
           2 points at a time.
  • Attending an English speaking event held by Foreign Language Education Center and filling out the feedback form.
           2 points at a time.
  • Taking the On-Campus English Exam and acquiring a grade higher than 550.
           5 points at a time.
  • Be a contestant in an English competition held by Foreign Language Education Center.
           5 points at a time.

  • Other activities or lectures eligible for point accumulation will be announced separately.

Do Notice…

  1. Do bring your student ID card with you if you would like to recognize the points.
  2. The online loyalty card is right HERE. There's no virus in the website, feel free to authorize it without any concern so that the website can work correctly.
  3. The online loyalty card requires you to log into the TCU Google account to access. 
  4. Please note that if you haven't collected any point, there WON'T be any data in the online loyalty card. Attend more English activities!
  5. The accumulation of English Event Points and its application are only valid during an academic year.
  6. The "English proficiency mock test or courses" from the Easytest platform acknowledged by our center are listed here.
  7. Regarding the "English proficiency mock test or courses", please finish all the test subjects listed in the formal test. For instance, a former IELTS exam requires an average of the grades from listening, reading, speaking, and writing tests; thus, to recognize points through the IELTS mock exam, one shall finish all four tests.

*All the scholarships discussed here are calculated by NTD(New Taiwan Dollar).*

  1. Only the undergraduate Tzu Chi University students may apply for this scholarship
  2. Foreign students may apply for the scholarship. However, the official language of the student's native land shall not include English
  3. Required Paper: (1) The Paper required for the scholarship you are applying for (2) A copy on both sides of your student ID card with the registration stamp of the current semester (3) A copy of front cover of you bank account
  4. The execution of the scholarship will be done in every academic year. Foreign Language Education Center will make another post about the application duration
  5. One should be a Tzu Chi University student when applying for the scholarship or acquiring the grade
  6. The order of issuing the scholarship is the same as the order of application. If the funding runs out, our center will make another post about it
  7. Do check the posts from our center from time to time
